NBA – (501) CHICAGO at (502) CHARLOTTE 7:05 ET CSCH, FSCR
Charlotte is in 10th place in the Eastern Conference and trails Miami by four games in the loss column for the last playoff spot, but they are making a push. The Hornets have won four in a row (3-1 ATS) and are a growing favorite over a nemesis. Charlotte has buzzed from -9 to -10.5 against Chicago. The Bulls have won and covered four straight times over the Hornets, each time as an underdog. Though Chicago is in total free fall, Charlotte is 1-9 ATS after leading the previous game by 15 or more at the half. The Hornets will extend win streak, but fail to beat the spread.
Betting Trend – 53% backing Charlotte
Doug’s VPID Take – Lean Chicago
NBA – (811) L.A. CLIPPERS at (812) DENVER 10:30 ET TNT
Both these West Conference clubs have been in OVER mode recently, which explains the opening total of 233. The Clippers have played three straight while Denver is on a 7-0 OVER rampage. However, in five of these teams seven recent meetings, the Under has been the right side and the total has dipped to 230. What is the correct choice? Hard to ignore the Clips are 9-0 OVER after a combined 235 or more points in the previous game and the Nuggets are 8-0 OVER after three straight games allowing a shooting percentage of 50 percent or higher this season.
Betting Trend – 86% backing Under
Doug’s VPID Take – Play Over
CBB – (827) MISSOURI at (828) VANDERBILT 7:00 ET ESPN2
Though Vanderbilt has hardly played well all season at 11-18, Missouri’s three-game losing streak has become a cause for concern. This SEC showdown opened as a Pick and the Commodores are now a 1.5-point favorite. The Tigers’ carelessness with the ball is well known, but during that stretch, they are -16 in turnover margin, which is killing them. However, the Vandy defense has only created 28 turnovers in their last four games, while allowing opponents to knock down over 55 percent of shot attempts. This is strictly about choosing the lesser of two evils and Vanderbilt is 3-12 ATS versus teams who make 45 percent or more of shots launched
Betting Trend – 67% backing Missouri
Doug’s VPID Take – Lean Missouri
CBB – (833) TOLEDO at (834) NORTH. ILLINOIS 8:00 ET ESPN3
With Toledo averaging over 80 PPG and conceding over 75 PPG, this MACtion matchup opened at 155.5. How Northern Illinois will play is a mystery. Will Huskies stay on current 3-0 UNDER path or will they revert to the team that was 8-1 OVER prior to this? Hoops bettors are saying the former and lowered total to 152.5. Myself, I see the Rockets are on a 4-0 OVER binge and NIU is 13-2 OVER off exactly two MAC setbacks, leading me to OVER action.
Betting Trend – 95% backing Over
Doug’s VPID Take – Lean Over
