You wouldn’t think with just three NBA games there would be many line moves. But oh contraire, as the betting odds have really been adjusted on two tilts plus I have turning baseball numbers also.
The one with Toronto and Boston will not be written about because the Celtics have clinched playoff berth and rumors persist they will rest players which is why they went from home favorite to underdog. Like we say every day, understanding line moves can build your bankroll. (487-428 L173D)
NBA – (703) WASHINGTON at (704) INDIANA 8:05 ET TNT
Indiana has two games remaining and is one game ahead of Brooklyn for the last seat at the Eastern Conference playoff table. The Pacers cannot finish in a tie with the Nets since they would lose the tiebreaker having dropped the season series to Brooklyn. Indiana has certainly done their best to finish strong, having won five in a row (4-1 ATS). Washington is all but assured of being the No.5 seed, but they have openly spoken about wanting to take a lot momentum into the postseason and is 5-1 themselves (3-2-1 ATS). Sportsbooks made the Pacers 4.5-point favorites, yet those placing NBA picks are siding with the home team and lifted the Pacers to -7. No question Indy has more to play for and the Wizards are a lousy 15-24 ATS on the road, nevertheless, if you go back to last year’s playoff series, the visitor is 9-0 ATS with seven outright wins. MLB – (907) ARIZONA at (908) SAN DIEGO 10:10 ET FSN-AZ, FSN-SD
What is the deal with Arizona, they Diamondbacks are actually playing like they are at least a .500 team or something. The rode into San Diego and pounded the Padres Monday 8-4 and today they are drawing as much support as presidential candidates Marco Rubio or Hillary Clinton (at least by those generating sports picks versus the MLB odds), being lowered from +150 to under +125 at all reporting precincts. The Snakes offense is averaging five runs a contest, but starter Jeremy Hellickson will surrender hits and Friars hurler Odrisamer Despaigne has a solid 2.96 ERA against the D-Backs. I like the home team here. Doug’s Choice – San Diego wins
MLB – (913) TAMPA BAY at (914) TORONTO 7:07 ET SUN, RSN
The best way to describe these two AL East offenses is like an old school Duncan yo-yo, as they are up and down game after game thus far. The prevailing wisdom is both clubs will have problems against starting pitchers they have never faced before. Matt Andriese climbs the hill for the Rays and Daniel Norris for the Blue Jays. With the wind forecasted to be blowing in from leftfield at 10-15 MPH, the total has shrunk a full run to 8. There are many unknowns about this matchup, thus let’s go with what is available to us. If you want to believe in sequential events, based on this season, both teams are ‘due’ for a higher score and Tampa Bay is 11-2 OVER off a one-run division victory. Doug’s Choice – Lean Over
MLB – (915) CHIC. WHITE SOX at (916) CLEVELAND 7:10 ET WPWR, STO
Cleveland was a popular choice among MLB baseball handicappers to win the AL Central. But with starters Michael Brantley and catcher Yan Gomes out, the Indians will attempt to avoid their first 0-4 start at home in 28 years. With the wagering public, the Tribe has bettors retreating to the teepee, having been sent from -150 to -125. Carlos Carrasco would seem like the right pitcher for Cleveland to earn a home victory with; however, he’s 2-4 with a 5.19 ERA versus Chicago. The Indians will face left-hander Jose Quintana and the word is already out about Cleveland facing port-siders with 0-3 mark. Even with all the negativity surrounding the Tribe, under skipper Terry Francona, they are 15-3 when the White Sox pay a visit. Doug’s Choice – Cleveland wins
