For Thursday action, we have the lone NFL contest and three hockey tilts that have shown significant movement. Always review the nuggets since they are worth a look.

NFL – (301) JACKSONVILLE at (302) ATLANTA  8:20 EST NFL Network

The last 24 hours, the money coming in on the Falcons has been like snowflakes falling, as Atlanta has gone from -11 to -12.5 with no end in sight. If the Falcons slow down Maurice Jones-Drew, where does Jacksonville turn for offense, Blaine Gabbert, please. While the indoor Birds sure seem like the right play, this season double digit dogs have been a howling success at 20-12 ATS. 3DW PositionAtlanta lean to cover

    NHL – (51) DALLAS at (52) N.Y. ISLANDERS  7:05 EST  FSSW, MSG+

Dallas has won their last two games by playing strong defense in front of new goaltender Richard Backman, who’s handled the rest in a pair wins. These Stars showings, coupled with the Islanders on the three-game losing streak and losers of eight of their last 12, is enough to convince hockey bettors to maneuver Dallas from +107 underdogs to -115 road favorites. Also, having the knowledge the Stars are 8-2-1 on Long Island the past 14 years is a real positive. 3DW PositionDallas wins

NHL – (55) VANCOUVER at (56) CAROLINA  7:05 EST  RSNV, FSCR

In reviewing these numbers daily, the most consistent hockey disagreement between oddsmakers and pucks bettors is on Vancouver. I don’t know this for a fact, but in games where the money line moves at least 10 cents, the Canucks more than any other team I believe have been chosen, with the number rising. Vancouver opened at around -170 to -173 at most sportsbooks are solidly at -190 now. This matchup isn’t hard to understand the backing of the Canucks, who have won eight of 10, while Carolina has dropped nine of 10 contests. 3DW PositionVancouver wins

NHL – (59) PHILADELPHIA at (60) MONTREAL 7:35 EST  TSN, RDS

For the seventh time in nine years, Philadelphia has a six-game win streak. Those wagering on hockey are betting the Flyers extend it to seven, which would be their longest winning streak in almost a decade. (From Jan. 6-19, 2002, Philadelphia won 8 straight) The Flyers were +116 on the overnight line and have transferred to -120 at Montreal. A study of the numbers finds Philly 6-0 this season on the road if the prior contest was also away and Montreal is a smelly 2-9 on home ice against winning teams. Before giving up completely on the Canadiens, know this, they are 15-6 after allowing two goals or more in the third period of last outing. 3DW PositionMontreal wins
