Thursday Bowl Betting Previews


    Champs Sports Bowl –Florida State vs. Notre Dame –5:30E ESPN

    Tommy Rees is still the Notre Dame starting quarterback, but backup Andrew Hendrix will play and take on Florida State’s No. 4 scoring defense and No. 6 total defense in the country. The Fighting Irish run defense is only 58th nationally, but the Seminoles running game only averages 3.5 yards per carry. Junior QB E.J. Manuel led the ACC in passing efficiency and will have to rely more on the passing game to move the ball since Florida State averaged only 116 yards per game on the ground. Notre Dame is 1-5 ATS as bowl underdogs; however the dogs in this bowl are 5-1 ATS sprint.

    Alamo Bowl- Washington vs. Baylor -9:00E ESPN

    Washington’s best hope is choosing their poison and slowing down the Bears running game and taking their chances with against the pass. QB Keith Price has the school record with 29 touchdown passes and ranks 12th in the nation in passing efficiency. RB Chris Polk was All-Pac-12 first team after his third straight 1,000-yard season. Heisman Trophy winner QB Robert Griffin III finished the regular season with 3,998 yards passing, while completing 72.4 percent of his passes. Griffin has four legitimate big play threats, lead by Kendall Wright and they will be operating against a defense that concedes 284 yards passing. Heisman winners are 10-25 ATS in bowls.
