In the second part of our look at baseball schedules in the upcoming weeks, we break down the National League this week. As noted in our last article, this is a wise idea if you are betting baseball or playing daily fantasy, as it gives you insight on what could be easier or harder days ahead for teams or the players they play for.
To this point, there has not been a dominating club in the National League. This is easily recognized by the fact the AL has four teams with a winning percentage of .600 or higher, while the senior circuit does not have one.
In all, we came across two teams that should flourish in the short term and three who could be in the crosshairs.
Though Cincinnati has played well of late, there is a reason why Milwaukee is in first place in the NL Central and they should be tough to beat a four-game series in the Queen City to close June and start July. Next up for the Brew Crew is being home to face Minnesota and up and down Atlanta over seven games, which they should win. This is followed by trips to Miami and Pittsburgh, which the Brewers have proven this season to date they can handle.
After finishing up the road trip, the Cubs return to Wrigley Field to take on Minnesota, Detroit, and Cincinnati. Besides being home and facing opponents they should defeat in this eight-game homestand, Chicago will have two off-days which should recharge the batteries, plus they have players coming off the DL. The Reds series should attract their interest a great deal after being swept in four games at Cincinnati.
