This weekend concludes the unofficial first half of the baseball season. Let’s be honest, heading into the weekend, any one of us would have been lucky to have picked Pittsburgh, Washington, Baltimore, the Mets, the Dodgers, Oakland or the White Sox as one of the top seven money-making teams in betting on baseball. Here is a look at today’s Top line Moves and as always, review the tasty trend nuggets at the bottom of the page.

MLB – (903) SAN FRANCISCO at (904) PITTSBURGH  7:05 EDT  CSBA, RT

After lifting themselves up to first place in the NL West, San Francisco was swept by Washington and stumbled back into second place behind the Dodgers. The Giants have now lost five of six in the Eastern Time zone and face the best home team in baseball in Pittsburgh. (Let that soak in for 60 seconds) San Fran will call on Barry Zito (6-6, 3.84 ERA) to end this strife, however he’s lost three of four road starts with an enormous 8.84 ERA. In what seems silly to say, baseball bettors are pouncing on the Pirates, who are 27-13 at PNC Park, good for +14.5 units, chasing them from -123 to -145 on the money line. The Bucs are 10-2 at home against left-handed starters this season. 3DW Position – Pittsburgh wins

MLB – (909) MILWAUKEE at (910) HOUSTON  8:05 EDT  FSWI, FSH (side and total)

The Milwaukee Brewers have not enjoyed the kind of season they would expected and that goes for pitcher Yovani Gallardo (6-6, 3.87), whose been equally inconsistent. The Brew Crew’s ace has been remarkably consistent against Houston, posting a 10-2 record with a 2.81 ERA lifetime. Gallardo faces the Astros at seemingly the perfect time, since they have dropped eight straight. Oddsmakers opened the Brewers as -124 and they have been taken to -136 or higher, as Houston is 6-25 in July since last year. The Stros lack of success against Gallardo and the fact they are averaging 2.2 runs per game in this losing streak, has sent the total tumbling to 8.5. The totals adjustment doesn’t look like a lock, with Milwaukee 16-6 OVER after scoring two runs or less and Houston 18-9 OVER after three or more road tests. 3DW Position – Milwaukee wins and Over

MLB – (919) KANSAS CITY at (920) DETROIT  7:05 EDT  FSKC, FSD (side and total)

Prohibitive preseason division favorite Detroit, can reach .500 for the first time in over six weeks with a series opening win against Kansas City. The Tigers are being wagered on like it’s a done deal, moving from -165 to -190, with a slow climb, having won seven of their last 12 contests. Detroit will start rookie Drew Smyly (3-3, 4.54), who is 0-2 with a 4.05 ERA in five home starts and the home team is just 5-12 after four or more games at Comerica Park. The Royals Jonathan Sanchez (1-4, 6.80) has not had much success thus far with K.C., yet he’s held the Tigers lineup to five hits in 10 innings over two starts. With Kansas City struggling to score against left-handed starters (3.6 RPG), the total has fallen from 10 to 9.5.  3DW PositionKansas City wins and Over

MLB – (921) N.Y. YANKEES at (922) BOSTON  7:10 EDT  YES, NESN

Boston hitters need to put the bat on the ball against the Yankees this weekend.

The Yankees are in Boston for a four-game series and will have to compete without two of its best pitchers. Nonetheless, when a player wears that Yankees uniform, they typically find a way to get better, which has been the case of Hiroki Kuroda (8-7, 3.17), who is 5-1 with a 1.65 ERA in his last seven starts. With the Red Sox offense tallying a morbid 2.5 RPG in their last seven outings, those betting on baseball have shifted the BoSox from -113 to +103. Boston is  3-10 (-10.5 Units) at Fenway vs. teams averaging 1.25 or more long balls a game. 3DW Position – New York wins (bet the Over on the game taking longer than three hours)

MLB – (923) MINNESOTA at (924) TEXAS  8:05 EDT  FSNO, KTXA

Texas skipper Ron Washington has decided to give All-Star Yu Darvish some time off and not have him pitch this weekend, utilizing this time and the break for rest. Instead, Washington will trot out 21-year-old left-hander Martin Perez (1-0, 9.00) to start against Minnesota. The way the Rangers have been bet, you would have thought Darvish was starting, as Texas has been ridden hard to -150 or higher, after starting around -130 at most sportsbooks. The Rangers will try and end their four-game losing streak, versus Francisco Liriano (2-7, 5.40), who has yet to post a road victory in 2012. However, Liriano is 2-2 with a 2.95 ERA in seven starts since returning to the rotation following a stint in the bullpen. The first place Rangers are 21-3 at home after two or more consecutive losses the last three seasons. 3DW Position – Texas wins
