It is always fascinating to look at how any tournament is playing out in a particular season. Here are the results thus far of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

With the kind of regular season Tampa Bay put together, most thought this Stanley Cup was basically the – Tampa Bay Invitational Stanley Cup – with a coronation coming for the Lightning in early June. Instead, they were swept in four games by Columbus, who had never won a postseason series.
Next, the defending Cup champs Washington were taken out in the first round, losing a Game 7 on home ice to Carolina.
Out West, both divisional top seeds were bounced by wild card opponents and seemingly only by luck did San Jose win a Game 7 over Vegas, trailing 3-0 in the third period to come back to win, otherwise, all four of the top seeds would have been eliminated.
