Sports-Watch Sports Betting Line Moves

On Wednesday, let’s take a look at some of the biggest sports betting line moves in basketball. We will also share our opinions on the outcomes and invite you to review the records of handicappers at Sports-Watch to see if they are accordant with how you prefer to wager.

NBA – (709) L.A. LAKERS at (710) SAN ANTONIO  8:05 ET   ESPN

ESPN probably wishes it could “flex” this NBA contest, having this as their early showcase Hump Day contest. The Spurs are 13-point or better favorites with all the injuries to the Lakers frontcourt and what has attracted the attention of basketball bettors is the total. From its starting point of 212, the total shot up to 216, before settling back at 215. With Los Angeles already weak in the backcourt defensively, opponents will have no fear to set screens which can lead to trips the Lakers basket, knowing there is no shot-blocker to deal with. L.A. was already 8-1 OVER in road games playing against a team with a winning record this season and their thinned roster makes it that much easier to go past the listed total. S-W Take – Play Over

Oklahoma City ThunderWithout Kevin Love in the lineup, Minnesota is not receiving much love from those betting basketball. The Timberwolves were sent out at +11 and have jumped to +12.5 at Oklahoma City. Minnesota has managed to cover six of the last eight meetings at Chesapeake Energy Arena (1-7 SU), yet they’ve had defensive problems in the previous five visits, surrendering 120.4 points a contest. The T-Wolves are 9-1 ATS vs. teams outscoring their opponents by six or more points a game, but the Thunder is 16-6 ATS after being upset as favorites like they were in Washington on Monday. S-W Take – Lean with Oklahoma City to cover

Central Michigan’s 7-6 (8-4 ATS) record does not appear very imposing until you dig further. First-year coach Keno Davis makes his MAC debut with seven non-conference wins, which is the most in Chippewas history. This is an attention-grabber for hoops players sifting thru a deep Wednesday card and they have taken CMU from a Pick to -2.5. This will be Bowling Green’s fourth consecutive road outing and they have failed to be victorious once in that stretch. The Falcons are a miserable 10-22 ATS versus teams who attempt 21 or more three-pointers. S-W Take – Central Michigan covers

CBB – (773) LASALLE at (774) CHARLOTTE  7:30 ET

Atlantic 10 play commences for two clubs which have gotten off to very good starts. LaSalle is 10-3 (4-5 ATS) and has three backcourt players all averaging 14 or more points a game. Charlotte is even better at 12-2 (6-3 ATS) and is the superior defensive team, holding opponents to 61.6 PPG on 36.8 percent shooting. With the 49ers terrific on defense and playing at home, the line has been adjusted from Charlotte at +2 to a Pick. While the home team is enticing, the Explorers better guard play and having an 11-2 ATS mark off a home win should matter. S-W Take – LaSalle covers

Mississippi State has an undistinguished 5-7 record (4-4 ATS), nonetheless, is drawing the support of basketball bettors, forcing line moves. The Bulldogs began as 1.5-point home faves and have been elevated to -3.5. Mississippi State has a new head coach in Ricky Ray and is still settling on a starting five. The Bulldogs only convert on 41.2 percent of their shot attempts, but will face a South Carolina squad dealing with injuries, which is the main source of the line movement. Mississippi State has held their own against teams with a +7 or better rebound edge at 32-12 ATS, however, they will need to make more shots to win and cover. S-W Take – lean with South Carolina to cover
