On Tuesday, we have four solid line moves on the baseball diamond along with a key WNBA contest tonight. We ask you to review all the line moves and we also share our opinions on the outcomes.
MLB – (951) ATLANTA at (952) WASHINGTON 7:10 ET SPSO, MASN
After 10 strong outings, Washington’s Gio Gonzalez (7-4, 3.57 ERA) was shelled his last time out and will look to bounce back against a torrid Atlanta squad. The Braves have won 11 in a row and the Nationals left-hander will try and regain his previous form (2.06 ERA in 10 prior outings before July 31) and improve on 2-4 mark against Atlanta. Just like yesterday, the Nats are a falling favorite, down to -113 on the money line after beginning at -125. The Braves are averaging a scorching 6.2 runs in a game since July 26 and tonight’s starter Julio Teheran (8-5, 3.02) has a blistering 1.00 ERA over his last three starts. Washington has lost eight of 11 to Atlanta this season and the Braves are 18-12 versus lefties in 2013. S-W Take – Lean with Atlanta
MLB – (959) L.A. DODGERS at (960) ST. LOUIS 8:15 ET KCAL, FSMW
With their 15th consecutive road win last night, the Dodgers are two wins away from tying the NL record of 17, set by the New York ‘baseball’ Giants 97 years ago. One would have to believe they have a real shot of getting closer with Clayton Kershaw (10-6, 1.87) on the mound, whose baseball-best ERA is 15 percent lower than Matt Harvey who is second. Of Kershaw’s 23 starts this season, 17 had a closing total of 6.5 or less, which naturally is why those betting on baseball lowered the total from 7 to 6.5. The change is also benefitted by St. Louis starting pitcher Joe Kelly (2-3, 3.10), who has a 1.90 ERA in four starts since joining the rotation last month. L.A. is 12-3 UNDER in road games vs. a NL starting pitcher whose ERA is 3.50 or better this season. S-W Take – Play Under
MLB – (971) TEXAS at (972) L.A. ANGELS 10:05 ET FSSW, FSW
Not that it mattered, but when the Angels were swept in the Lone Star State last week by the Rangers they missed Yu Darvish (10-5, 2.66), this time they will not be as fortunate. After losing all three games in Cleveland, Texas has won seven of eight and permitted more than three runs only twice. Baseball bettors studying the money lines are satisfied with the Rangers recent efforts and Darvish and bumped the visitor from -150 to -165. Los Angeles also lost another key bat off the lineup card with Howie Kendrick hyper-extending his knee last evening. Texas is barreling thru division foes with a 31-14 record this year. S-W Take – Texas wins
MLB – (975) OAKLAND at (976) CINCINNATI 7:10 ET CSCA, FSOH
At the moment, both Oakland and Cincinnati are safe for the postseason, yet neither will want to continue their recent slumps. The A’s head east after finishing their homestand 1-4, while the Reds have turned south in dropping seven of nine. Mat Latos (10-3, 3.38) cannot do much about Cincy’s slumping offense, however, he can deliver the kind of pitching performance his club needs and the right-hander is 17-4 when working on five or six days rest the last two seasons. (Reds record) With this mind, Cincinnati has raced from -145 to -160 against Oakland, who has tallied nine total runs in their last five contests. S-W Take – Lean with Cincinnati
WNBA – (667) INDIANA at (668) CHICAGO 8:05 ET (side and total)
The return of rookie Elena Delle Donne has basketball handicappers adjusting Chicago’s side and total action for Indiana tonight. Delle Donne has missed the Sky’s previous two games because of a concussion, including their last outing in Indianapolis, where they scored a season-low in a 79-58 beatdown. Chicago opened at -3.5, but with Delle Donne shifted to ‘probable’, they leaped to -6 and have revenge in mind. The Sky’s first-year star is fourth in the WNBA in scoring at 18.2 PPG and the total has jumped from 142.5 to 146 with her here presumed return. While Chicago appears to be a reasonable wager, Indiana is 10-0 UNDER after playing a home game, and 8-0 UNDER in away games this season. S-W Take – Leans with Chicago and Under
