MLB – (901) L.A DODGERS at (902) MILWAUKEE 2:10 ET MLBN
It is the rubber game of the series between these NL combatants and Los Angeles has slipped from -140 to -127. The Dodgers inconsistent offense was on display in being shutout last night 7-0 and Kenta Maeda (6-5, 2.91 ERA) will be looking for more help if he and his team are to move to 6-2 on the road. Standing in their way is Milwaukee’s Zach Davies (5-3, 3.74) who has a ERA of 2.00 in past three outings and the Brewers have won six of his nine starts at Miller Park in 2016. The Brew Crew should have shot, but are 4-14 after shutting out their opponent the last three seasons.
Betting Trend – 64% backing Milwaukee
Doug’s VPID Take – Lean Los Angeles
MLB – (903) CINCINNATI at (904) WASHINGTON 7:05 ET FSOH, MASN
Two factors are in play for this NL battle, with the total on the rise from 8.5 to 9. Washington starter Gio Gonzalez (3-7, 4.73) has been brutal in past three starts with 8.59 ERA, making a higher score possible. Also, the Cincinnati bullpen is the worst in baseball with 6.00 ERA and with the Nationals offense perking up with 23 runs in past four games, runs could be plentiful. Since last year, when the Nats are at home and off two or more Under’s, they are 15-3 OVER.
Betting Trend – 86% backing Over
Doug’s VPID Take – Play Over
MLB – (913) CLEVELAND at (914) TORONTO 7:10 ET STO, RSN
Cleveland looks to extend 12-game winning streak in opening contest north of the border. Those betting baseball do not mind catching this Indians express and moved the Tribe from -105 to -123 away faves at Toronto behind a red-hot Carlos Carrasco (3-2, 2.73), who has a 1.61 ERA in his last three starts. The Blue Jays will counter with knuckleballer R.A. Dickey (5-8, 4.23), but this combination is 0-6 at home games versus teams whose hitters strike out seven or more times a game this season. Cleveland will lose soon; just not sure it will be today.
Betting Trend – 93% backing Cleveland
Doug’s VPID Take – Lean Cleveland
MLB – (921) SAN FRANCISCO at (922) OAKLAND 10:05 ET CSN-BA, CSN-CA
Oakland goes for the home and home sweep of San Francisco in four-game series against one of the best pitchers in baseball who will be doing something not accomplished in 40 years. With the A’s having won three straight and seven of nine, Madison Bumgarner (8-4, 2.08) and the Giants have shrunk from -185 to -145 road favorites. Bumgarner will be the first pitcher to be the listed in the batting order of an AL league contest since 1976 and he and his teammates are 17-3 as a road favorite of -125 or more the last two seasons.
Betting Trend – 57% backing San Francisco
