NBA – (507) INDIANA at (508) BOSTON 8:05 ET ESPN
After several meager offensive performances, Boston scored 114 points at New York last night and shot 48.8 percent, but it was not enough. The Celtics defense had their worst game in a month in allowing 120 points and lost as 1.5-point favorites to the Knicks. Bettors have not lost faith on the C’, lifting them from -2 to -3.5 at home over Indiana. The Pacers also played last night and won by 19 over Phoenix as 12-point home favorites. That win made Indiana 19-3 SU when permitting less than 100 points and they are 17-6 ATS versus teams scoring 99 or more points a game this season.
Betting Trend – 79% backing Indiana
Doug’s VPID Take – Lean Indiana
NBA – (509) DALLAS at (510) OKLAHOMA CITY 8:05 ET (side and total) FSSW, FSOK
NBA bettors have been real busy with this Southwest Division clash. First we have Oklahoma City rising two points to -10.5 against Dallas and we have the total sinking like gas prices from 213 to 207.5. Here are factors as to why. Both teams played last night, but the Mavericks gave up a 16-point lead and lost to Cleveland at home in OT. Three Mavs players logged at least 40 minutes, thus disappointment and added use of bench are contributing to both side and total on Dallas’ part. The Thunder only beat Minnesota 101-96 last night as 10.5-point road favorites and are suspect 5-11 ATS in the past month. OKC is also 12-4 UNDER after playing a road game this season.
Betting Trend – 76% backing Over and 73% on Dallas
Doug’s VPID Take – Lean Under and slight lean with Dallas
CBB – (527) BOSTON COLLEGE at (528) SYRACUSE 7:00 ET W-ESPN
With Syracuse not quite good enough to beat North Carolina, hoops bettors are counting on the Orange’s current form and being less motivated to cover the spread. The ‘Cuse opened at -13 and slipped to -11 against Boston College, having lost four straight and at 0-5 ATS. The Eagles are only 3-7 ATS and 1-4 SU and ATS on the road, scoring a mere 59 PPG away from home. The adjusted number looks right, but Syracuse has an extended history of poor play in January and B.C. is 7-0 ATS in road games after scoring 65 points or less in straight contests the last three seasons.
Betting Trend – 58% backing Syracuse
Doug’s VPID Take – Lean Boston College
CBB – (533) LASALLE at (534) RICHMOND 7:00 ET Local Affiliates
This A-10 encounter has the largest totals line move of the day, tumbling four points to 143. LaSalle’s anemic offense is the issue at only 63.2 PPG on 38.7% shooting when on the road. But Richmond does two things which could add value in thinking opposite. The Spiders score 81.9 PPG at home and on defense, allow the opposing team to convert on 47% of attempts (38.2% on three’s). With Richmond at home and controlling tempo, look for them to reach 15-3 OVER at the Robins Center.
Betting Trend – 95% backing Under
Doug’s VPID Take – Play Over
