NBA – (509) L.A. LAKERS at (510) MILWAUKEE 8:05 ET TWSN, FSWI
These are two of the weaker defensive teams in the NBA, with the Lakers 28th in points allowed at 106.7 points a game and Milwaukee at 19th at 102.9. Los Angeles has played three fair to very good teams of late and the average total score has been high at 234.6 points. With this occurrence, the total has sky-rocketed from 205.5 to 210. The Bucks are a very inconsistent offensive team, thus, hard to say if they can take full advantage of the Lakers matador defense. We will give slight nod the line movement with Milwaukee 17-7 OVER versus teams with 20 or fewer assists per contest.
Betting Trend – 82% backing Over
Doug’s VPID Take – Slight lean Over
NBA – (513) PHOENIX at (514) L.A. CLIPPERS 10:35 ET FSAZ, PRIME
If there is one team that cannot wait for the season to conclude it is Phoenix. The Suns are a bigger mess these days than singer Kesha and they still have 26 games to play! In truth, Phoenix has played four of the top six offensive teams in the NBA of late, which in part accounts for them surrendering 117 PPG in this stretch and tonight they get face the seventh-best scoring outfit in the L.A. Clippers. This is reason enough it seems to lift the total from 209 to 212 and the Clips might also be lacking in defensive intensity after facing San Antonio and Golden State. Consider Phoenix is 11-3 OVER versus teams scoring 103 or more points a game this season.
Betting Trend – 87% backing Over
Doug’s VPID Take – Lean Over
CBB – (515) VIRGINIA at (516) MIAMI-FL 7:00 ET ESPN
Rather interesting line move in the ACC tonight with Miami-Fl. taken from a Pick to -1.5 point home favorite. The Hurricanes faced a Category 5 North Carolina club off a home Duke loss and was being questioned on all fronts and they were blown out 96-71, while losing their poise as well. Miami had won eight of nine before wipe out, which is what Virginia is doing (8-1, 5-4 ATS), with the Cavaliers lone loss a somewhat controversial affair at Duke 63-62. Should be a super game and decided to back Virginia, who is 8-1 ATS as underdogs the past three years.
Betting Trend – 58% backing Virginia
Doug’s VPID Take – Lean Virginia
NHL – (3) COLUMBUS at (4) BOSTON 7:05 ET FSOH, NESN
It is understandable why hockey bettors were not thrilled about Boston being a -200 home favorite. Over the last several seasons, the Bruins have been the best home team during the regular season, yet for reasons unknown are 12-17 SU at TD Garden this year. Nonetheless, this still Columbus, whom the Bruins have already beaten twice this season and with the Blue Jackets off two losses again, the last 4-0 to equally inept Buffalo, Columbus is 6-17 after allowing four goals or more this season. Update – Boston is down to -155 with the news backup Jonas Gustavsson will now be in goal.
Betting Trend – 78% backing Boston
Doug’s VPID Take – Boston wins
Public Consensus Record – 51% to 79% – 18-17
