NBA – (503) HOUSTON at (504) BOSTON 7:35 ET  ROOT-SW, CSN-NE	The Rockets have taken off from -1 to -3.5 at Boston for three specific reasons. It starts with Houston is stellar 17-9 and 18-8 ATS on the road. Next, they lost at Milwaukee on Monday and this season the Rockets are 12-1 SU and ATS after suffering a setback. Finally, Boston lost at Washington last night in OT, not leaving them much preparation time. The Celtics have played poor defense in last three games, all losses, permitting 122.3 PPG. Nonetheless, the half point hook comes into play along with Boston being 30-15 ATS when playing with no rest.

Betting Trend – 73% backing Houston

Doug’s VPID Take – Slight lean Houston

The flow of Golden State money is overwhelming, with the Warriors up from -7.5 to -10 at Charlotte. Coach Steve Kerr has frequently voiced concerns about his club playing down to level of competition and after winning seven straight (covering the last five), that is what Golden State did in three-point loss at Miami two days ago. Those betting basketball are convinced the Warriors will be focused against stumbling Hornets squad that is 3-6 in last nine games (4-5 ATS). Though the right sentiment might be in play, Golden State is 0-7 ATS as a road favorite of 9.5 to 12 points this season.

Betting Trend – 96% backing Golden State

Doug’s VPID Take – Lean Charlotte

With four starters back, Rhode Island has been a general disappointment this season at just 12-6 (8-9 ATS). However, tonight, the Rams are being given the benefit of doubt and are elevated two points to -5 point road favorite at Richmond. The Spiders have been up and down all season and after winning five in row, they have lost their past two, including at home to George Mason as six-point faves. While Richmond is ugly 5-13 ATS at home recently, Rhode Island has matching spread record on the road and is 1-8 ATS away after beating the oddsmakers number. Rather take the points in these lousy circumstances.

Betting Trend – 74% backing Richmond

Doug’s VPID Take – Lean Richmond

CBB – (553) EVANSVILLE at (554) NORTHERN IOWA  8:00 ET  ESPN Extra

If you have been following the Missouri Valley this season, seeing Northern Iowa sprout up from -5 to -7.5 does feel rather surprising. This is not usual Panthers squad at only 8-11 (5-13 ATS), but there is at least just cause for this occurrence. Evansville handled UNI 70-58 as 2.5 point home favorites back on New Year’s day. Unfortunately for Purple Aces fans, that was their last victory and are 0-6 (2-4 ATS) since. After posting 0-7 SU and ATS record, Northern Iowa has begun to come out of the abyss with three consecutive wins. The Panthers were a so-so play at original number and even shakier at adjusted figure.

Betting Trend – 64% backing Evansville

Doug’s VPID Take – Slight lean Northern Iowa

Public Consensus Record (2017) – 51% to 79% – 22-19 ATS

Public Consensus Record (2017) – 80% or Higher – 11-12 ATS

Line Movement Direction Record (2017) – 32-32 ATS
