NHL Picks Of Day: Maple Leafs Pound Canucks and Blues Waddle Past Ducks

With only four games on the Wednesday hockey docket, we had to use a shovel, pick and lantern to dig deep enough two find two plays for your consideration.

St. Louis (34-25-6, 34-31 SU) at Anaheim (25-32-9, 25-41 SU)

After that enormous 11-game win streak that propelled St. Louis from 6th in the Central Division all the way to third place, the Blues have hit some sour notes of late, having lost four of six.

All is not lost for St. Louis, they remain in the third slot, but Dallas and Minnesota have crept closer. Three of the four losses were at least understandable if you follow the NHL odds. Losing at rival Dallas to conclude the 11-game streak, well, it was going to end eventually. Two games later, which was their third contest in four days, they went to OT at Minnesota before falling. The last one at Carolina, it was facing a team that had been as hot as they and got beat.

Losing the next night on home ice 4-1 to the Stars again was unexpected.

The Blues start a three-game SoCal trip in Anaheim and with four days between games, they should be refreshed and with their recent losses, not taking the Ducks seriously should not be an issue for a team that is a -165 road favorite. St. Louis is 9-2 off two or more setbacks.
