Need to Know Line Moves and Free Picks for May 30th

With the holiday weekend gone, today’s line moves have a distinct interleague feel with three of the four contests fitting the mold. Take a minute to review all the betting trends and our free picks (133-88, 60.1% of late), to see what we are thinking. See you back here tomorrow.

MLB – (901) PHILADELPHIA at (902) MIAMI  7:10 ET CSP, FSFL

With Miami 8-18 this month, having won three of their last four would not be considered a hot streak, however, it is a step in the right direction. Baseball bettors seem to agree and have moved the Marlins from +101 to -110 over Philadelphia. The pitching matchup of  Vince Velasquez (2-4, 5.55 ERA) and Justin Nicolino (0-1, 5.40) does not provide any insight into finding a winner. Both starting pitchers have enjoyed success against the other team, making this really a toss-up with the Phillies 6-20 in May.

Betting Trend – 91% backing Miami

Doug’s VPID TakeSlight Lean Philadelphia (best to pass)

MLB – (925) CINCINNATI at (926) TORONTO  7:05 ET  FSOH, RSN With Cincinnati rookie Asher Wojciechowski  (1-0, 2.25) making his second start of the year and J.A. Happ (0-3, 4.50) taking the ball for the first since going on the DL April 17th with elbow inflammation, the total is up a full run from 9 to 10. It does not hurt that the Reds average 5 RPG and Toronto hung 17 runs up yesterday. In Happ’s career, he is 42-20 UNDER at home when the total is 8.5 to 10, yet, at best he will toss five innings one would imagine. With Cincy 12-2 OVER as an underdog of +125 to +175, a small lean in that direction.

Betting Trend – 80% backing Over

MLB – (927) SEATTLE at (928) COLORADO  7:10 ET  RTMW, RTRM

These clubs are in the midst of a four-game home and home series and Seattle was a surprise winner yesterday. This Tuesday tilt has two lefties, Ariel Miranda (4-2, 4.22) for the Mariners versus Tyler Anderson (3-4, 5.40) for the Rockies. The betting patterns are favoring Colorado, up from -125 to -140. Each hurler has an ERA under 2.20 in their past three outings, but I will lean with the Rocks who are solid 14-5 off a loss.

Betting Trend – 94% backing Colorado

MLB – (929) ATLANTA at (930) L.A.A. ANGELS  10:05 ET  FSSE, FSW

It is widely known Bartolo Colon (2-5, 6.96) is off to a slow while being bothered by a recurring sore shoulder, which at 44 tends to linger. Nonetheless, it makes little sense for Los Angeles to have gone from -115 to -130 having pitcher Parker Bridwell making his major league debut and Mike Trout out of the lineup. Unless Bridwell at 26 is a late bloomer, hard to back the Halos here.

Betting Trend – 95% backing Los Angeles
