BOWLS – Armed Forces – (223) LOUISIANA TECH vs. (224) NAVY 4:30 ET ESPN
With the Navy having lost quarterback and one of their top rushers, the offense could not do much against the Army and lost. Louisiana Tech figures to have some problems with the Midshipmen’s offense, but Navy’s 80th rated pass defense could really struggle against Bulldogs No.3 pass offense. The Middies have gone from +3 to +6 in this bowler. Update – Football bettors continue to show no faith in Navy’s backups at quarterback and running back and pushed them to +7.5. Frankly, do not like this game situation at all and would recommend passing or small wager taking the points.
Betting Trend – 67% backing Louisiana Tech
Doug’s VPID Take – Slightest of leans with Navy
NBA – (715) HOUSTON at (716) MEMPHIS 8:05 ET RTSW, FSSE
Houston averages 113 PPG, which is second in the NBA, while Memphis is next to last in points scored at 96.8 PPG. With the Grizzlies at home, those making NBA picks are thinking Memphis will dictate the tempo and have lowered the total from 207 to 204.5. While this might be a bit low now, the general idea is accurate, with the Grizz 13-5 UNDER at home and the Rockets 7-0 UNDER in division battles.
Betting Trend – 59% backing Under
Doug’s VPID Take – Lean Under
NBA – (723) TORONTO at (724) UTAH 9:05 ET TSN, RTRM+ (side and total)
Utah has not been a reliable wager at home at 7-7-2 ATS and is coming off blowing 11-point lead to Sacramento in there building in the fourth quarter to fall 94-93 on Wednesday. With Toronto a sensational 9-3 and 10-2 ATS away from home this season, the Raptors have been flipped from +1 to -1.5 point favorites. With the total also dropping two points to 199, that could suggest the Jazz are in more advantageous position, however, Toronto is 12-1 ATS versus teams attempting 24 or fewer free throws a game this season. Have also spotted the dinosaurs are 7-0 OVER against teams outscoring their opponents by 3+ points a contest this year.
Betting Trend – 52% backing Toronto and 58% on Over
Doug’s VPID Take – Toronto covers and Over
CBB – (737) RUTGERS at (738) SETON HALL 6:30 ET FS1
In this confrontation in the Garden State, Rutgers has a surprising 11-1 record, however, their schedule has been softer than a feathered pillow with only half their games involving a point spread. Even with this the Scarlet Knights have been lowered two points to +9.5 at Seton Hall. The Pirates have a very nice club with several very good wins against solid competition in putting together 9-2 record. It does not do unnoticed Seton Hall is 3-6-1 ATS and after routing Rutgers the last couple years, might not take them all the seriously.
Betting Trend – 73% backing Rutgers
Doug’s VPID Take – Lean Rutgers
Public Consensus Record – 51% to 79% – 301-295-3
Public Consensus Record – 80% or Higher – 187-163-2
