The Pirates and Cubs total has sunk to 8.5 for Monday, as have the potential chances of the White Sox and Braves, down 10 cents from the line makers release. As always, review the tasty trend nuggets at the bottom of the page.

MLB – (907) HOUSTON at (908) MILWAUKEE  8:10 EDT  FSH, FSWI

Something has to give as both the Astros and Brewers have been adrift for some time, commencing their series in Milwaukee. Houston ended their 11-game losing streak yesterday, while the Brew Crew’s bullpen woes continued, blowing three two-run leads in a devastating setback to Washington on Sunday. Milwaukee is now 1-9 in their last 10 and has been bet down from -184 to -170 on the money line at most sportsbooks. Despite the Astros sordid 10-41 (-26.4 units) road record, they will face Marco Estrada (0-4, 4.52 ERA), who hasn’t won since Aug. 23. The Stros Bud Norris (5-8, 5.05) has put together impressive negative numbers (0-7 with a 7.43 ERA in nine starts), last posting a win on May 21. 3DW Position – Milwaukee wins

MLB – (911) N.Y. METS at (912) SAN FRANCISCO 10:15 EDT  SNY, CSBA  (side and total)

Madison BumgarnerWhen you fail to score, you tend to draw attention. That has been the case of San Francisco, who was shutout in their last two games against their bitter rivals the Dodgers, falling into a virtual tie with them in the NL West. This has impacted the side and total as the Giants have been cut from -200 to -180 and the adjusted total is 6.5 from 7. The switch on the money line is particularly striking since Madison Bumgarner is 7-1 (Giants 8-1) at AT&T Park this season, with a 1.89 ERA. In fact, Bumgarner is 11-0 as a home favorite of -150 or more since last year. (San Fran record) Off their loss yesterday, San Francisco is 27-9 UNDER at home after a game with a combined score of four runs or less. However, New York is 28-8 OVER against left-handed starters this season. 3DW Position – San Francisco wins and Over

MLB – (917) L.A. ANGELS at (918) TEXAS  7:05 EDT  ESPN

How bad are Ervin Santana (4-10, 6.00), and Roy Oswalt ((3-1, 5.22) pitching? Even with both teams tallying a combined 12 runs scored in their weekend series, the total has crept up from 10.5 to 11. Santana is 0-3 with a 9.41 ERA in five starts since June 16, while Oswalt is a shell of his former self and hasn’t pitched in 12 days due to back tightness. The Angels right-hander is 17-4 OVER when the total is 10 or higher on the road, but the slumping Rangers are 16-5 UNDER in July. 3DW Position – Play Under

MLB – (921) TAMPA BAY at (922) OAKLAND  10:05 EDT  SUN, CSCA

With Oakland back at home and hotter than a habanero pepper, they should be ready to roll with a 16-4 July mark. The A’s have climbed to the top wild card slot in the American League (ahead of the free-spending Angels), but take on someone capable of stopping them dead in their tracks.  David Price (14-4, 2.57) has been scalding, 7-0 with a 1.61 ERA in his last nine starts against AL opposition. That has left those betting on baseball to punch Tampa Bay’s ticket, lifting them from -110 to -125. The Rays dominating lefty is 18-5 on the road with money line of -100 to -150 the last two seasons. (Tampa Bay’s Record) 3DW Position – Tampa Bay wins
