NBA – (703) DALLAS at (704) OKLAHOMA CITY 8:00 ET TNT (side and total)
Though Dallas has won five of seven (6-1 ATS), those betting basketball are not of the opinion they can hang with Oklahoma City and have been pushed from -7 to -9.5. Quite possibly with Deron Williams (toe) and J.J. Barea (calf) injured, there is skepticism, but Seth Curry has added 14.4 PPG in this stretch for the Mavericks. The total has also declined from 200 to 197 with Dallas playing much better team defense and the Thunder are in really tough situation with no rest off a six-game road trip. The visitor and lower score works here.
Betting Trend – 65% backing Oklahoma City and 94% on Over
Doug’s VPID Take – Dallas covers and lean Under
CBB – (709) XAVIER at (710) CINCINNATI 7:00 ET ESPN2
The ‘Crosstown Shootout’ is among the testiest rivalry’s in college basketball and tonight should be no different. Xavier was cruising along before dropping three straight in Big East action and ended streak with win and cover over Georgetown the last time out. Despite winning 10 in a row (3-4-1 ATS), the Bearcats unimpressive spread record has helped push Cincy from -6 to -4 in this battle. Xavier has won and covered three consecutive times, but the Musketeers defense is not as sticky as previous years and has conceded 50 percent or worse on opponents shot attempts in last half dozen outings, which leads to siding with the home team at new price.
Betting Trend – 64% backing Xavier
Doug’s VPID Take – Cincinnati covers

CBB – (731) NEBRASKA at (732) NORTHWESTERN 8:00 ET BTN
Nebraska has lost four straight Big Ten games (1-3 ATS) including one to Northwestern at home. The Cornhuskers will be in Evanston tonight and basketball bettors have influenced the line enough to take Nebraska from +10 to +8. Though it is still early enough, it appears the Wildcats long NCAA tournament drought might finally end and they are a strong 5-2 SU and ATS in league play. The Huskers are competitive 6-3 ATS on the road, nonetheless, the ‘Cats can make 3’s in bunches and are excellent defensively.
Betting Trend – 62% backing Northwestern
Doug’s VPID Take – Lean Northwestern
NHL – (13) CALGARY at (14) OTTAWA 7:35 ET RSN
There are actually other hockey games with larger money line moves, but they are related to goalie changes. Here Ottawa is up 15 cents to -155 because they have won six of eight, while Calgary has flamed out in losing six of seven. The Senators have won three of previous four meetings and the home team is on 7-1 move. With Ottawa 8-1 against goaltenders with 89.5 or lower save percentage, they get the call.
Betting Trend – 52% backing Ottawa
Doug’s VPID Take – Ottawa wins
