Independence Bowl Betting Preview

Georgia Tech vs. Air Force

Independence Stadium, Shreveport

5:00E ESPN2 Line – Air Force -2.5, 56

Air Force will try and out-run Georgia Tech in the Independence Bowl.

Most bowl games usually last in the vicinity of three and half hours, this one probably won’t since both play option football which should keep the clocking moving. Georgia Tech (6-6, 5-5-1 ATS) ranked first in the country in rushing at 327 yards per game and the Air Force (8-4, 4-7 ATS) was second at 317.9 YPG. The Yellow Jackets are hoping quarterback Joshua Nesbitt can return from broken forearm he suffered on Nov. 4. His backup, Tevin Washington has filled in adequately but not with the same aplomb as Nesbitt. The Georgia Tech defense has been easy to beat all season, which was shown in 42-34 defeat to Georgia in last outing and is 3-7 ATS after permitting 40 or more points.

The Falcons take their lead from QB Tim Jefferson. The junior rushed for 769 yards while passing for 1,342 yards. Air Force is a three-point favorite with total of 56 and they are 9-10-1 SU in bowl bouts, with 3-1 ATS mark as favorites.

The Yellow Jackets have a much longer history with 22-16 record, however this is meaningful to these players since Georgia Tech has dropped five straight (1-4 ATS) after the regular season.

The underdog is 15-10-1 ATS in the contest (has lost four in a row) and coach Paul Johnson teams are 12-0 ATS on the road after gaining 475 or more total yards in their previous game.

3Daily Winners Line – Air Force -1
