Important Line Moves and Free Picks for Feb. 8th

It is Hump Day and we have line moves to look over in the NBA and college basketball today. Take a minute to review all the betting trends and our free picks, to see what we are thinking. See you back here for tomorrow.

NBA – (505) DENVER at (506) ATLANTA  7:35 ET  ALT, FSSE When it comes to high scoring games, nobody does it quite like Denver. For trend followers, nothing beats jumping on an angle and riding and if you started early on with the Nuggets, you have made a nice profit since they are 35-15-1 OVER. With this, oddsmakers are trying to adjust and already today they have taken the total from 222 to 225 with Denver in Atlanta. Maybe this will be right, but cannot overlook the Hawks are 8-0 UNDER at home when the total is 210 or higher this season.

Betting Trend – 78% backing Over

Doug’s VPID Take – Play Under

NBA – (509) WASHINGTON at (510) BROOKLYN 7:35 ET  CSN-MA, YES (side and total)

Hard to imagine two more diametrically opposed than these NBA teams. Washington is 14-3 and 13-4 ATS since Jan. 6th and is at the very least a top 4 club in the East. Brooklyn is 1-21 going back to Dec. 28th and there ineptitude in further shown with 6-15 ATS record. Those betting basketball to this point have shown no problem in pumping up the Wizards from -9.5 to -11. With the Nets also the poorest defense squad in the Association in conceding 114.1 PPG, the total has sprouted from 220 to 223. Coming off a wild OT loss to Cleveland Monday, not convinced Washington will be thoroughly engaged and Brooklyn might slide under the number. The higher total still has a chance with the Nets 13-5 OVER as an underdog of 10 or more points this season, with average total score 231.7.

Betting Trend – 95% backing Washington and 94% on Under

Doug’s VPID Take – Leans Brooklyn and Over

CBB – (525) DEPAUL at (526) XAVIER 6:30 ET  FS1

Though Xavier has won three straight, including very impressive 82-80 ‘W’ at Creighton last Saturday, without Edmond Sumner, enough questions remain in some basketball bettors minds and the Musketeers have slipped from -17 to -15 even against DePaul. If you like the favorite, besides the added value, consider the Blue Demons have permitted opposing teams to shoot at least 50 percent in the last four road games and they are 0-9 and 1-7 ATS away from home, losing by 15.1 PPG. If Xavier puts together two spurts, they cover.

Betting Trend – 59% backing Xavier

Doug’s VPID Take –  Lean Xavier

CBB – (563) INDIANA STATE at (564) BRADLEY  9:00 ET  FSMW

Two nasty Valley teams will collide and the money is following the last place visitor. Indiana State opened as Pick and has been moved up to -2.5 at Bradley. Though the Sycamores are 8-5 ATS on the road, they have only found the win column twice. The Braves are hardly like your most comfortable pair of shoes, as they are 1-9 ATS off a win Valley victory the last three seasons. Not many aspects to like, but I’ll support Bradley who is 15-4 and 13-6 ATS at home against Larry Bird’s old school.

Betting Trend – 70% backing Indiana State

Doug’s VPID Take – Lean Bradley

Public Consensus Record (2017) – 51% to 79% – 33-30 ATS

Public Consensus Record (2017) – 80% or Higher – 15-18-1 ATS

Line Movement Direction Record (2017) – 46-47-1 ATS
