We have enjoyed a tremendous season picking college hoops underdogs on this day of the week and we will try and continue to improve upon 18-8 ATS, 69.2 percent record for the year going into tonight.
For one of our choices, we really wanted to take Clemson at Virginia Tech, but we found out this morning starting point guard Shelton Mitchell will be out again with a concussion, which makes that too risky a choice. Instead, we will go with underdogs from the Big Ten and the American and try to generate another sweep for college basketball picks.
Michigan (22-7, 17-11 ATS) is in the NCAA Tournament but has one more goal in mind. Penn State (19-10, 14-11-1 ATS) in very close to being in the tourney field and could be all but in by winning their last two Big Ten contests.
The Wolverines have to win their final two games and hope Nebraska splits their last two encounters, which would give them a fourth-seed (that would earn a double bye) in next week’s conference tourney at Madison Square Garden. If Michigan is tied with the Cornhuskers they would lose out because they were beaten in Lincoln in the team’s lone matchup.
One could make the case the Nittany Lions are the more desperate club, still fighting to reach the Big Dance and it is Senior Night in State College. However, here is why Michigan at +3 is the right choice against the college basketball odds.
