What I’m letting you know today: In case you missed it, the Brewers Zack Greinke has started three consecutive games for Milwaukee. He was tossed in the first inning last Saturday after four pitches, came back the next day and started against Houston. In the Brew Crew’s first game after the All-Star break who starts, Greinke, last night and Milwaukee is now 24-1 when the right-hander is the starter at Miller Park. According to Elias Sports, the last pitcher to start three consecutive games was  Red Faber of the Chicago White Sox, who started both games of a doubleheader against Detroit on Sept. 3, 1917, and then started the next day in St. Louis as well.

The Twins Francisco Liriano struck out 15 Oakland A’s last night and lost. That indignity makes him the first Twinkies hurler to punch-out that many batters and fail to win. But Liriano did accomplish something noteworthy, since 1900, no MLB pitcher has struck out that many hitters AND allow a grand slam.
