Today the line moves check in on what is happening on Thursday and takes a look at Week 10 in the NFL. Take a minute to review all the betting trends, our free picks and predictions (410-324-11 in 2018, 31-25-1 of late) to see what we are thinking today. See you back here tomorrow

NFL – (107) CAROLINA at (108) PITTSBURGH  8:20 ET  FOX

Pittsburgh opened at -5 which made Carolina a possibly enticing wager, but as the week moved forward the Panthers have crept ever closer and now are down to +3. While Carolina is playing really well, so are the Steelers and it’s tough to ignore Carolina is 2-10 ATS in road games after scoring 30 points or more in two straight contests.

Betting Trend – 56% backing Carolina

Doug’s VPID Take – Lean Pittsburgh

NBA – (703) BOSTON at (704) PHOENIX  9:05 ET  CSNE, FSAZ

The total in this NBA clash jumped from 211 to 214.5. Boston relies more on its defense than offense, not being a good shooting team (27th) but they should get easier looks against a Phoenix defense that permits the other team to make more than 50 percent of their shot attempts. Still, the Celtics can contain the Suns and are 19-8 UNDER in road games having lost two of their last three and 13-3 UNDER in away outings versus teams allowing 110 or more points a game.

Betting Trend – 67% backing Over

Doug’s VPID Take – Play Under

NHL – (51) EDMONTON at (52) FLORIDA  7:05 ET  RSW, FSFL

Florida is back from Helsinki where they split two games with Winnipeg in what has been a disappointing start to the season at 3-8 SU. Nonetheless, the Panthers have been jacked up from -135 to -155 home favorites over Edmonton. The Oilers are 0-2 on the road trip but those came in back to back nights at Washington and Tampa Bay. With a day off and stepping down in class against a team they are 10-4 in their building, let grab the underdog Oilers.

Betting Trend – 50-50 Split

Doug’s VPID Take – Edmonton wins

NFL – (253) ATLANTA at (254) CLEVELAND  1:00 ET  FOX

Atlanta has moved up from -3.5 to -5 at Cleveland. The Falcons have found a rhythm in their offense which has allowed them to start a three-game winning streak. Cleveland, well they are being the Browns, on a four-game slide and I would not be shocked if the Dirty Birds are -5.5 or -6 come Sunday, so if you like them, I’d grab them now.

Betting Trend – 92% backing Atlanta

Doug’s VPID Take – Coming Sunday

NFL – (255) NEW ORLEANS at (256) CINCINNATI  1:00 ET  FOX

New Orleans opened at -4 or -4.5 depending on the sportsbook and has jumped to -6. There would appear to be some very good value on the on Cincinnati, particularly with them coming off a bye and the Saints have faced the Ravens, Vikings and Rams on consecutive weeks. Then you go to the pass defense stats and see Cincy is dead last in the NFL and has to take on Drew Brees.

Betting Trend – 87% backing Saints

Doug’s VPID Take – Coming Sunday

NFL – (257) WASHINGTON at (258) TAMPA BAY  1:00 ET  FOX

Tampa Bay was released at -1 Sunday night, hopped to -2 Monday and is -3 on Thursday. The Buccaneers will score, they have a great deal of talent all across the board at receiver and Ryan Fitzpatrick will hit them often, along with those in the other colored jersey’s. However, part of this line movement is based on Washington will almost for sure start three new offensive linemen and possibly four, because of injuries suffered last week. That is a lot to overcome even against the Bucs.

Betting Trend – 56% backing Tampa Bay

Doug’s VPID Take – Coming Sunday

NFL – (265) DETROIT at (266) CHICAGO  1:00 ET  FOX

Detroit really missed Golden Tate last week in losing at Minnesota and given Chicago’s defense, this might not be a fun trip either for the Lions. The total has spun downward from 46.5 to 44. If Matthew Stafford has the same problems as last week and the Bears work Detroit’s 30th ranked run defense, the clock moves and an UNDER looks possible.

Betting Trend – 61% backing Over

Doug’s VPID Take – Coming Sunday
