NBA – (503) CHARLOTTE at (504) CLEVELAND 7:05 ET FSCR, FSOH
Charlotte remains alive for the last playoff spot in the East and cannot afford a slipup. NBA bettors are counting on that not to happen and added more sting to the Hornets, boosting them from -6.5 to -8. This is Cleveland’s season-finale and they have lost nine in a row (3-6 ATS) losing by 13.7 PPG. I understand the number is too inflated, but I cannot take the Cavs, thus, a nod to Charlotte and hope for the best.
Betting Trend – 82% backing Charlotte
Doug’s VPID Take – Lean Charlotte
NBA – (519) HOUSTON at (520) OKLAHOMA CITY 9:35 ET TNT
These two Western Conference teams could still go up or down in their playoff seeding, but where the action is on the total, having risen from 228 to 230.5. Houston has averaged 130.6 PPG in their last five contests, with the average total score at 235.6. Oklahoma City is up near that stratosphere also at 228 in the same number of games. While the case for the higher score makes sense, the Rockets are 27-9 UNDER when the line is +3 to -3 and the Thunder is 14-3 UNDER as an underdog this season.
Betting Trend – 95% backing Over
Doug’s VPID Take – Play Under
MLB – (903) WASHINGTON at (904) PHILADELPHIA 7:05 ET MASN, NSP+ (side and total)
It’s official, this rivalry is 100 percent on. With Bryce Harper acting like he always wanted to play in Philadelphia, though it’s only Game 4 of 19 this season between these clubs, this matchup has been ignited. A great pitching matchup with the Phillies’ Aaron Nola (1-0, 7.00 ERA) facing the Nationals’ Stephen Strasburg (1-0, 2.84). Nola struggled at Washington, but is being counted on to rebound, as his team is up from -125 to -145. The other interesting aspect is the total has also gone higher, from 7.5 to 8. Though Strasburg and the Nats are 19-5 against Philly and Nola is 5-11 going the other way, look for Nola and his teammates to reach 18-1 at home when working on five or six days rest. Though all signs point to Under, the Nationals bullpen scares me and I’ll side with the OVER.
Betting Trend – 63% backing Philadelphia, 67% on Over
Doug’s VPID Take – Philadelphia ML, Lean Over
MLB – (927) MILWAUKEE at (928) L.A.A. ANGELS 10:07 ET FSWI, FSW (side and total)
The Brewers headed west and were handled last night by a Angels club that has started 4-0 at the Big A. However, Milwaukee is still considered an elite squad and with Freddy Peralta (1-0, 3.27) facing Matt Harvey (0-1, 9.00), somebody the Crew is very familiar with, they have gone from -115 to -130 or higher. Harvey’s faced the Brewers six times and four did not go well and he has a 6.39 ERA against them. Milwaukee makes sense here and the Angels are 0-7 at home after four or more consecutive wins. The total dipped from 9 to 8.5 and with the Halos at 9-1 UNDER and the Brew Crew scoring 2.7 RPG on the road, I’ll take it and hope Harvey does not completely blow it.
Betting Trend – 85% backing Milwaukee, 77% on Over
Doug’s VPID Take – Milwaukee ML, Play Under
