With the NBA kind of worthless today, our line moves focus will instead by on baseball and the start of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Take a minute to review all the betting trends, our free picks and predictions to see what we are thinking about today. See you back here tomorrow.

MLB – (959) L.A. DODGERS at (960) ST. LOUIS  7:45 ET  SNLA, FSMW (side and total)

St. Louis goes after a third straight win over the L.A. Dodgers. Cardinals pitchers have shutdown L.A.’s smoldering offense, holding them to only three runs in two games and shutting them out last night. Baseball bettors are thinking the Dodgers will get back on track and flipped them from +103 underdogs to -110 road favorites. They will depend on Kenta Maeda (2-0, 3.09 ERA) and a still shaky bullpen against Jack Flaherty (0-0, 3.86) and the Cards. I’ll side with the Redbirds who are 15-5 after allowing three runs or less in three straight games. The total also slid from 8.5 to 8 and count me in with the Dodgers 15-3 UNDER revenging a shutout loss.

Betting Trend – 91% backing Los Angeles, 61% on Over

Doug’s VPID Take – Lean St. Louis ML and Under

MLB – (969) N.Y. YANKEES at (970) HOUSTON  7:40 ET  YES, ATTSW  (side and total)

Houston has won the first two over the injury-riddle Yankees and goes for the sweep tonight. Not everyone is so sure that happens as starter Collin McHugh (1-1, 2.45) and the Astros are down from -130 to -110, with the total climbing from 8 to 8.5. Houston has been more clutch in the late innings and will face James Paxton (1-1, 4.09), who has not pitched badly, but been catching too much of the plate and given up key hits. With New York only 9-17 in road games vs. a team with a bullpen whose WHIP is 1.25 or lower. And McHugh 10-0 UNDER at home vs. teams averaging 1.25 or more homers a game, I’ll side with the ‘Stros and Under.

Betting Trend – 63% backing New York, 66% on Over

Doug’s VPID Take – Leans Houston ML and Under

NHL – (1) COLUMBUS at (2) TAMPA BAY  7:00 ET  USA

The best team in the NHL, Tampa Bay, has gone from -210 to -230 in Game 1 against Columbus. The Lightning tied for the most regular season wins ever with 62 this season and they were 32-9 SU at home. The Blue Jackets were exceptional on the road this year at 25-16 SU but they lost all three games to Tampa Bay and they were not close, outscored 17-3.

Betting Trend – 95% backing Tampa Bay

Doug’s VPID Take – Tampa Bay

NHL  – (3) PITTSBURGH at (4) N.Y. ISLANDERS  7:30 ET  NBCSN

With the Islanders the first team in 100 years to go from the worst defensive team one year to the best defensive club the following season, the total in this first round matchup has gone down from 6 to 5.5. New York’s 21st rated offense and 29th ranked power play are also reasons for this to happen. With the Isles 14-3 UNDER after allowing two goals or less in two straight games and Pittsburgh 12-3 UNDER in roadies in the 1st game of a playoff series, take the lower score.

Betting Trend – 72% backing Under

Doug’s VPID Take – Play Under
