Explosive July 3rd Line Moves

Milwaukee will host a rare late Tuesday afternoon affair, because of the city’s big firework display at Lake Michigan and the Brewers have gone from -135 to under -110 on the money line against Miami. We also find the Twins and Tigers matchup has numbers moving in all kinds of directions because of a Detroit’s pitching change. The Angels once again are a falling favorite in Cleveland, with the irresolute Dan Haren pitching. As always, review the tasty trend nuggets at the bottom of the page.

It’s a tussle of first place National League teams with two starting pitchers recording disappointing records. Tim Lincecum (3-8, 5.60 ERA) is showing signs of emerging from his first half slump and will face-off against Jordan Zimmerman (4-6, 2.77), who’s pitched in tough luck with a lack of run support. Baseball bettors are calling for more runs to be scored, lifting the total from 7 to 7.5. They could be correct with the Giants 24-14 OVER on the road this season and Lincecum 9-2 OVER in night games. The Nationals are 22-8 OVER at home vs. NL teams allowing 3.8 or less runs a game. 3DW PositionPlay Over

MLB – (957) PHILADELPHIA at (958) N.Y. METS  7:10 EDT  CSN, SNY

Despite rumors of Philadelphia looking to move potential off-season free agents, those betting on baseball are focused on the present. The Phillies are a harrowing 9-17 versus left-handed starters and will see the tosses of the Mets Jonathon Niese (6-3, 3.55). In spite of their sordid play, the Phils are down to a +110 road underdog, after the oddsmakers began them at +125. Bettors have to be anticipating the Phillies are too talented to lose six in a row behind hurler Vance Worley (4-4, 2.92). Niese is 1-0 with a 3.24 ERA in three starts against Philadelphia (Mets 2-1) this season, nonetheless, the lefty is 2-11 at home after giving up one or less earned runs (Team record) and the Metropolitans are 3-15 at Citi Field after six or more road games. 3DW Position – Philadelphia wins

MLB – (965) CINCINNATI at (966) L.A. DODGERS  10:10 EDT  FSOH, KCAL

For a second straight night, the Reds are drifting lower as favorites. Line makers released Cincinnati at -140 with Johnny Cueto (9-4, 2.26) set to pitch from atop the hill, but sports bettors have preferred renaissance man Chris Capuano (9-3, 2.69) and rebooted Cincy at -110 or less. Cueto has a 1.85 ERA in his last six starts and he’s 18-6 when the money line is -100 to -150 the past two years. (Reds record) After Sunday’s eight-run outburst, the Dodgers offense returned to their meager ways last evening with just two plated runs and they are 1-9 after batting .225 or worse over a 15-game span this season. 3DW Position – Cincinnati wins

MLB – (977) BOSTON at (978) OAKLAND  10:05 EDT  NESN, CSCA

All season, Boston’s Jon Lester (5-5, 4.53) has not been able to put it together, being a .500 pitcher with a mediocre ERA. Those following the diamond action daily have taken noticed and decreased the Red Sox from -140 to -127 or less. Lester is far from a sure thing with a 23-23 (-14.8 Units) mark as a favorite of -110 or higher since last year (Red Sox record). Oakland is not working from a position of strength with Bartolo Colon (6-7, 4.22), who is 1-5 with a 6.98 ERA at home this year. This could come down to relief pitching and the BoSox are 6-12 vs. an excellent bullpen whose ERA is 3.00 or better this season. 3DW Position – Boston wins
