ESPN is running its after the Super Bowl – Rivalry Week – theme for college basketball to draw in eyeballs now that football is officially over. Though there are just a few games that are actually rivalry’s anymore this week, on Wednesday, we have four really compelling matchups that bettors will have a close eye on. In addition, as we stated last week, these are games that provide further knowledge of when March Madness arrives.
The ACC chase is not officially over, however, Virginia (22-1, 15-5 ATS) has a three-game lead with eight to play, thus, unless the No.2 Cavaliers collapse, they are in good shape. I am anticipating Virginia will be a 4-to-6 point road favorite, but Florida State (17-6, 13-6-2 ATS) will be a tough hombre. While the Seminoles lost at wobbly Wake Forest last week, they are 4-1 SU and ATS of late and have defeated quality opponents like Louisville, Virginia Tech, and Miami. For Florida State to have a chance to beat the spread and engineer possible upset, they have to push the ball on every offensive possession and limit turnovers as best they can. Something will have to give with the ‘Noles 10-1 (6-2-1 ATS) in Tallahassee and the Wahoos 6-1 SU and ATS on the road.
