The Ragin’ Cajuns Are a Rare Type
At the present time, there are only 32 teams out of 351 that average 80 or more points per game. Louisiana University is one of those teams and some might not recognize the name. Many outlets still have this school listed as Louisiana-Lafayette or UL-Lafayette or some still call them ULL. In fact, prior to 1994, the school from Lafayette was known as Southwestern Louisiana.

Whatever they have been called over the years, their basketball teams have always been known for pushing the ball and playing at a fast pace and scoring a lot of points. Though not every season, but definitely this one, Louisiana or whatever you prefer to call them, they are known for caring more about offense than defense and this season they are allowing 80.9 PPG. That makes the team with the nickname Ragin’ Cajuns, one of only six in D-1 basketball to score and permit 80 PPG.
This, in turn, is why Louisiana is 17-10 Over on the year and 10-6 Over in Sun Belt play, averaging and allowing over 63 shots a contest. Coach Bob Martin’s squads are never dull with the gitty-up and go style.
