CFB – Boca Raton – (215) MEMPHIS vs. (216) WESTERN KENTUCKY 7:00 ET ESPN
Get ready for points, and lots of them according to all parties. Oddsmakers set this total at 77, which was the highest of the 41 bowl games released and the betting public took that to 79.5 before setting at 79 today. This could well be a contest in which both teams break 40-point barrier, however, Memphis averages 56.6 PPG on the road and Western Kentucky is at 69.7 PPG. The OVER should be right, just sayin’!
Betting Trend – 80% backing Over
Doug’s VPID Take – Lean Under
BOWLS – Poinsettia – (217) BYU vs. (218) WYOMING 9:00 ET ESPN
With BYU 9-3 ATS and 6-0 ATS on the road, the Cougars are attracting a lot of attention and have been elevated from -8 to -10 over Wyoming. BYU is also the far more physical team with superior strength, however, they not as good as favorite (4-3 ATS) and the Cowboys were perfect 6-0 ATS as underdog.
Betting Trend – 66% backing Wyoming
BOWLS – Armed Forces – (223) LOUISIANA TECH vs. (224) NAVY 4:30 ET ESPN
With the Navy having lost quarterback and one of their top rushers, the offense could not do much against the Army and lost. Louisiana Tech figures to have some problems with the Midshipmen’s offense, but Navy’s 80th rated pass defense could really struggle against Bulldogs No.3 pass offense. The Middies have gone from +3 to +6 in this bowler.
Betting Trend – 88% backing Louisiana Tech
BOWLS – Quick Lane – (231) MARYLAND vs. (232) BOSTON COLLEGE 2:30 ET ESPN
With two mediocre offenses, this total has dipped from 45 to 43.5. Both teams were 8-4 UNDER this season and all the other peripherals suggest fewer points. Nevertheless, look for both coaches to make this a reward game, open up the playbook and have some fun and the teams punching through barrier.
Betting Trend – 66% backing Under
BOWLS – Independence – (233) VANDERBILT vs. (234) N.C. STATE 5:00 ET ESPN2
This bowl contest has a rising total in spite of two offense that are not exciting and two pretty solid defenses that can do a good job at the line of scrimmage. The totals adjustment has been from 42.5 to 44 and given how both offenses closed the season in showing more explosiveness, we will ignore Vanderbilt being a 14-4 UNDER team as an underdog.
Betting Trend – 85% backing Over
