There are four games with betting odds one can choose from when looking at the NHL schedule today and let’s just say not one of these are being deemed as fun and easy choices by this handicapper.
To put it another way, if these contests were pictures of girls in swimming suits, not only would they not be in the Sports Illustrated swim suit issue, Popular Mechanics would pass on them also. If you were here yesterday, I said finding three strong plays for NHL picks was simple and I ended up 3-0. Today I have my lucky quarter which I pulled out and had serious conversations about heads or tails to come up with three winners. (Kidding, sort of)
As I said this week, this choices against the NHL odds are in order of preference from now on.
Remember not to long along when Disney owned the Anaheim hockey franchise and the nickname was after the movie they sent to market, the “Mighty Ducks”? From their inception in 1993 until they were sold in 2005, that is what they were known as, before it was shorted to – Ducks. These days, there is nothing mighty about them and if Mickey Mouse still was the owner, he would have kicked Donald Duck and friends to the curb.
Anaheim’s offense is like pre-Bobby Orr in Boston (1967-75). The Hall of Famer changed how defensemen played, by attacking into the offensive end, because back in his day, they seldom crossed the blue line and most games were 1-0, 1-1 and 2-1 scores. The Ducks all season have been the league’s most anemic offense and still average less than two goals a game (1.85). Tonight’s opponent Ottawa has found scoring easier, ranked in a tie for 10th at 2.70, but not so much lately, where they have scored eight times in past six games.
With these ongoing developments and these two teams 10-3 UNDER at Anaheim, the Under 5 total is a good wager to make.
Free Pick – Play Under
This Columbus (15-29 SU) versus Toronto (16-24 SU) battle(?) features two of the four worst squads in the NHL. The only way these teams are going to the playoffs is by buying a ticket. The oddsmakers opening line of -150 had the Maple Leafs as favorites, which would have brought out and audible “WOW”, from many hockey bettors.
