We continue our search to find college hoops underdogs that can engineer upsets in the middle of the week. Today we have two more and both will be played in the Eastern Time Zone.
There were potentially a couple others that also might have worked that are playing in conference tournaments early in the week, but because there were no college basketball odds yet on those games, had to move on. Here is what we have for Wednesday.
James Madison might be a two-point home favorite, but to win and cover they will have to find their shooting touch. The Dukes are 1-4 and all four of those defeats have come in the last four games in which they also failed to beat the spread. James Madison is only connecting on 40.4 percent of their shot attempts. They are also a very ineffective three-point shooting club at only 28 percent, all which plays into them being picked last in the CAA this season.
Appalachian State is 3-2 and 2-1 ATS and two of those covers came in the role of underdog against Iowa State and UTEP. The Mountaineers prefer to play at a much quicker tempo and are averaging 94.2 points a game. Their offense is built around three-point shooting, with nearly half their attempts coming from behind the arc and they have made a dozen a game.
