The so-called second half of the baseball season will start on July 19th when St. Louis visits their rival, the Chicago Cubs to open up a five-series series. That series could set the table for either team the rest of the season.
However, there are other clubs who have schedules that might be much easier or very challenging right out of the gate. While there is no way to know exactly how any team will play over a period, we as baseball handicappers train ourselves to be observant and follow the information we can find.
You don’t have to be a baseball betting guru to fade the Orioles, that is obvious at this point. Nonetheless, given the lack of talent and having series’ at Toronto, home to Boston and Tampa Bay and at the New York Yankees, there are not many victories to find for the Birds the rest of July.
The Brewers have enjoyed a sensational season to this point, but they will be severely tested the first two weeks of the second half. Milwaukee will be at Miller Park (30-18 record) to take on both the Los Angeles Dodgers and Washington, as both go into playoff push mode. From there they travel west for an eight-game road excursion. First, they stop in San Francisco for four games and that is followed by four more contests at Dodger Stadium. If the Brew Crew remains in first place at that point, they could stay in the playoff chase the rest of the regular season.
