Colorado is trying desperately to climb out its slump and looks for an answer this afternoon to end its seven-game losing streak. More than person betting baseball wonders if they have it in them.
Last night’s loss for the Rockies was excruciating, with a blown save in the eighth inning, before eventually falling in 14 innings 4-3 to San Francisco.
Kyle Freeland (8-5, 3.70 ERA) has done the job as a rookie for Colorado. The left-hander does not overwhelm hitters with great stuff, rather, he has great movement on his two and four-seam fastballs and gets batters out that way instead of impressive strikeout totals. Just ask the Giants, as Freeland has given up just one run in 13 innings (0.69 ERA) in two victories over San Fran. This will be his first visit to AT&T Park.
After a pretty good start, Ty Blach (4-5, 4.86) has been blasted in his past four starts. The Giants rookie right-hander has allowed 22 runs covering just 21 1/3 innings and allowed a whopping 37 hits in losing three times.
