As we head into tonight for the Stanley Cup playoffs, three more teams will have a chance to end a series. Thus far the closers are 1-1 and two clubs are -200 or large favorites to seal the deal.
One such squad is Dallas and we have a more intensive write-up about them in another article here at sportsbookreview.com. We also are on record Washington finishes up what they should have the other day against Philadelphia.
This leaves us taking to discuss San Jose’s chances take down Los Angeles in five game and pivotal Game 5 between the New York Islanders at Florida. Underdogs lost ground yesterday against the NHL odds, but are still profitable +1.11 units on 16-18 record. My dreadful luck continues in OT, with St. Louis losing last night, making me 1-3 in the postseason and 24-39 for the year on viewable articles.
Here are tonight’s two NHL picks along with props wagers to consider.
Though not all the differentials are dramatic, they are telling. With New York and Florida, the defense that created takeaways or was presented the opportunity has won each contest. In Islanders’ victories in Game’s 1 and 3, they had takeaway differential of +2 and +9. In the even numbered encounters the Panthers won, they were +1 and +7.
If you follow this pattern, this affects New York’s goal scoring with nine tallies in victory in only two in defeat. The Isles also need more scoring other than from top line, which has six of 11 goals, with more diversity from other players.
Florida has been more consistent on offense, ringing up a dozen goals, with game scores from two to four. The Panthers offense looks to be in good shape, but they have to be more careful with the puck which has hurt them twice and when goalie Roberto Luongo has not been placed is terrible situations, he’s held up.
This series has seen a lot of back and forth and frankly this a really hard selection, but I’ll call for Florida to come through at home as -160 favorites according to Bookmaker.
Free Pick – Florida wins
Two years ago, San Jose had a 3-0 lead on the Kings and ended losing the series in devastating fashion. Fast forward to today and the Sharks are ahead in this series 3-1 and while every team would try and win on the road in this situation, often with a home game up next, they might not bring the necessary urgency.
