March 22, 2016

Time to jump into today’s line moves and look at NBA, NHL and college basketball action. Take a minute to review all the betting trends and our free picks, which are on nice 47-31 run, to see what we are thinking. See you back here tomorrow.

NBA – (651) CHARLOTTE at (652) BROOKLYN 7:35 ET  FSSE, YES

One night after unfathomable win against San Antonio after trailing by 23 points, basketball bettors are confident Charlotte will not be prepared to as road favorites at Brooklyn and took them down from -7.5 to -6. The Bobcats have shown in the last week they could be vulnerable to such an occurrence, winning at Miami on St. Patrick’s Day and two days later falling at home to Denver. However, backing the Nets would require some gumption since they are 1-6 and 2-5 ATS in last seven.

Betting Trend – 66% backing Charlotte

Doug’s VPID Take - Slight lean Brooklyn

CBB – (659) ST. MARY’S at (660) VALPARAISO  7:00 ET  ESPN

Two quarterfinals tonight in the NIT and the total in the first tilt has exploded from 128 to 133. Though these are two strong defensive teams holding opponents in the low 60′s, the fact remains Valparaiso has scored 83.2 points a contest in their last seven games and while St. Mary’s has been more inconsistent, on the season they average 74.5 PPG. However, the Gaels offense has dipped when on the road to 69.3 PPG and in the role of road underdog the past two years, it falls even further to 59.0 PPG and St. Mary’s is 7-0 UNDER.

Betting Trend – 98% backing Over

Doug’s VPID Take – Lean Under

CBB – (661) CREIGHTON at (662) BYU  9:00 ET ESPN

www.vegasproinsidersdaily.comThe total on the other NIT conflict has risen nearly as much, up four points to 165.5. This is understandable with BYU one of the top scoring home teams in college basketball at 87.5 PPG. While the Cougars are 12-2 OVER in all tournament games the last couple years, Creighton is 14-4 UNDER in postseason road games and being a four-point underdog, is 20-8 UNDER as an away underdog of 3.5 to 6 points, leading me to go against the move.

Betting Trend – 51% backing Under

Doug’s VPID Take – Lean Under

NHL – (69) ST. LOUIS at (70) SAN JOSE  10:35 ET  FSMW, CSCA

With St. Louis having won seven of nine and sporting a 21-16 SU record on the road, they have been lowered from +120 to +105 road underdogs at San Jose. It’s not like the Sharks are playing poorly, having won nine of 12, but they are just 16-18 SU at the Shark Tank this season, which is very unusual for San Jose. Nonetheless, San Jose has won six of eight over the Blues and off their 3-0 thumping of Arizona, the Sharks are 22-6 off a home blowout win by three goals or more.

Betting Trend – 82% backing St. Louis

Doug’s VPID Take – San Jose wins
