NHL – (59) SAN JOSE at (60) PITTSBURGH 8:05 ET NBC
Pittsburgh has been better in all aspects in series with San Jose and are poised to raise the Stanley Cup with a victory. The Penguins speed has been the difference (let that sink in for a second in the literal sense) and pucks bettors are in agreement the postseason ends tonight as Pittsburgh has been lifted from -145 to -170. The Sharks have a shot, but the Pens are 10-1 at home off a road win this season.
Betting Trend – 88% backing Pittsburgh
Doug’s VPID Take – Pittsburgh wins
MLB – (951) ST. LOUIS at (952) CINCINNATI 7:10 ET FSMW, FSOH
There are many factors to raise the total from 9 to 9.5 in this NL Central confrontation. It starts with St. Louis scoring 6.1 runs a game in their past seven outings and Cincinnati is even better at 7.7 RPG in the same span. The Reds also have the worst bullpen in the big leagues by a significant margin, thus, if it close, the Cincy pensters are like the 1997 song from The Prodigy – “Firestarter”. Lastly, here is clincher, these two clubs are the top OVER bets in the majors.
Betting Trend – 88% backing Over
Doug’s VPID Take -Play Over
MLB – (963) WASHINGTON at (964) CHIC. WHITE SOX 8:10 ET MASN2, WPWR
Washington has clubbed the White Sox and goes for the sweep with an offense that has scored 31 runs in last three tries. Yet those making MLB picks are not certain the Nationals can pull this off in the starting pitching battle of the Gonzalez’s. Miguel Gonzalez (0-1, 3.93 ERA) for the White Sox is trying to earn a permanent spot in the rotation and has a 3.12 ERA in his past three starts. Gio Gonzalez (3-4, 3.94) of Washington has been like a batting practice pitcher, with an ERA of 10.34 in his past three trips to mound. This has the Nats falling from -145 to -130 or lower. Maybe Washington’s bats cool off, but I need proof otherwise and know the Pale Hose are 4-8 vs. lefties and will back the Nationals.
Betting Trend – 69% backing Chicago
Doug’s VPID Take – Washington wins
MLB – (967) PITTSBURGH at (968) COLORADO 5:10 ET RTPT, RTRM (side and total)
This is why players and managers hate rainouts. Instead of off day, Pittsburgh had to fly to Denver from homestand to play makeup game and immediately fly back to the Steel City to continue playing at PNC Park Friday. Colorado was also supposed to have a day off after 3-3 road trip. These situations usually favor the home team, as the visitor is less interested and Pirates have been moved from -125 to +105. With the Bucs 36-22 OVER on the season and starter Jeff Locke 12-3 OVER as a road underdog of +100 or higher since 2014, the total has grown from 11.5 to 12. These are very difficult choices because you do not know the team’s mental states, thus I will take the stronger team as dog that wins at Coors (Pitt 8-2 L3Y) and a lower score.
Betting Trend – 57% backing Pittsburgh and 72% on Over
