Sports Betting Line Moves and Free Picks for Feb.26-28

February 26, 2016

We have the action covered the next couple days in all the major sports for sports betting line moves and highly anticipated contests.  Take a minute to review all the betting trends and our free picks, which are on nice 13-7 run, to see what we are thinking. See you back here Monday.

NBA – (843) CHARLOTTE at (844) INDIANA  7:05 ET  FSMW, FSSE

Two nights ago, Charlotte gave up the most points they had in 11 games in 114-103 loss to Cleveland. In winning seven of prior eight, the Hornets permitted just 94.7 points a game. This likely plays into the total sinking two points to 204. Though the total in the last six meetings is just 3-3, the losing teams has averaged only 85.8 PPG. With this being Charlotte’s fifth consecutive away contest, they are 11-2 UNDER after playing two straight road games this season.

Betting Trend – 56% backing Under

Doug’s VPID Take – Play Under

NBA – (845) ORLANDO at (846) NEW YORK  7:35 ET  FSFL, MSG

Having faced Stephen Curry and Golden State last night did nothing to help Orlando’s recent defense slide. Even before the Warriors lit them up for 130 yesterday, the Magic had allowed 106.4 PPG in their previous five outings. New York has been down a similar path in losing 13 of 15, especially so in the last five contests in conceding 109 PPG. With such an utter lack of defense, the total has been bumped from 205.5 to 208.5. Honestly seems like a lot of points even with these defenses, but these clubs are 16-5 OVER when playing in the Big Apple.

Betting Trend – 68% backing Over

Doug’s VPID Take – Lean Over

NHL – (3) TAMPA BAY at (4) NEW JERSEY 7:05 ET  SUN, MSG+

With Tampa Bay on a four-game winning streak and New Jersey having droped four of five, bettors were inclined to take the Lightning from -115 to -140 on the money line. I will take a different tack with Tampa Bay having lost 12 of 15 at New Jersey. The Devils were thrashed at Columbus yesterday but are 6-1off a division setback. Finally, New Jersey has shown gumption having lost four of five with a 6-1 mark in next outing.

Betting Trend – 68% backing Tampa Bay

Doug’s VPID Take – New Jersey wins

Public Consensus Record – 51% to 79% – 22-20

Public Consensus Record – 80% or Higher – 12-15-1

CBB – (519) NORTH CAROLINA at (520) VIRGINIA 6:30 ET  ESPN

www.vegasproinsidersdaily.comNorth Carolina tries to maintain lead in the ACC, but it won’t be easy against Virginia squad whose only two recent defeats were on the road by five total points. The Cavaliers have the entire defense to slow the Tar Heels bigs. North Carolina is only 3-7 ATS off a spread winner.

Anticipated Line – Virginia by 2-4 points

Doug’s VPID Take – Slight lean Virginia (at these numbers)

CBB – (543) LOUISVILLE at (544) MIAMI-FL 2:00 ET  W-ESPN

If North Carolina were to slip at Virginia, the winner here moves into first place tie. Key to game is if Miami guards thrive or wilt against Louisville relentless pressure. Worth noting the Cardinals are only 4-5 and 2-7 ATS on the road.

Anticipated Line – One Point Either Way

Doug’s VPID Take – Lean Miami

CBB – (561) OKLAHOMA at (562) TEXAS  2:00 ET  CBS

Since losing three of four, Oklahoma has been getting more contributions from different players which led to easy wins over West Virginia and Oklahoma State. Texas gave the Sooners a tussle in Norman, falling 63-60 earlier and will be rugged here. Guard play will be difference and Oklahoma is 1-5 ATS as away favorite and Longhorns are 2-0 SU and ATS as home underdogs.

Anticipated Line – Oklahoma by 1 to 3 points

Doug’s VPID Take - Oklahoma covers

CBB – (587) KENTUCKY at (588) VANDERBILT  4:00 ET  CBS

After floundering a good portion of the season, Vanderbilt could move within a game first place in the SEC with a victory over Kentucky. The Commodores need another big resume builder to make NCAA field and are peaking at right time. The Wildcats are just 3-6 SU and ATS outside Lexington.

Anticipated Line – Kentucky by 1-3 points

Doug’s VPID Take - Slight lean Vanderbilt

CBB – (599) MARYLAND at (600) PURDUE  4:00 ET  ESPN

Maryland has covered the spread once this month, at home against Purdue. The Terps have played tired and without fire and could go down against revenged-minded Boilermakers, who are 15-1 (7-5 ATS) at Mackey Arena.

Anticipated Line – Purdue by 5-7 points

Doug’s VPID Take – Lean Purdue

CBB – (665) ARIZONA at (666) UTAH  2:00 ET  ESPN

Here is a thought for Arizona coach Sean Miller, if you don’t want opposing teams to storm the court, don’t lose the game. Utah has won five in a row (4-1 ATS) and in impressive fashion and is very capable of defeating the Wildcats. Miller would be better suited to drop – Angriest Man Alive – persona and just have his players be better in the clutch.

Anticipated Line – Utah by 1-3 points

Doug’s VPID Take – Slight lean Utah

NBA – (511) GOLDEN STATE at (512) OKLAHOMA CITY  8:35 ET  ABC

With Oklahoma City having lost three of four, some of the shine has been dulled for this matchup. However, this is big game loaded with big game players and we could have multiple individuals vying for star of the game. Thunder are just 5-11 ATS off SU loss, with Golden State 20-12-1 ATS on the road.

Anticipated Line – Golden State by 1-3 points

Doug’s VPID Take – Golden State covers

NHL – Sunday (1) WASHINGTON at (2) CHICAGO  12:35 ET  NBC

Washington is best club and road team in NHL. Both teams are out to make statement, with this being possible Stanley Cup preview. Capitals playing more solid hockey overall and take victory in Windy City.

Anticipated Line – Chicago -120 ML

Doug’s VPID Take – Lean Washington
