The NBA has lots of line moves but none worth mentioning because they all have to do with special circumstances. Instead we take out first look at the Stanley Cup Playoffs for line moves and baseball. Take a minute to review all the betting trends and our free picks (63-36 of late), to see what we are thinking. See you back here tomorrow.
MLB - (903) CINCINNATI at (904) PITTSBURGH 7:05 ET FSOH, RT-P
Oh sure, tell me you saw Cincinnati in first place even for a day in the NL Central! Yet here they are and the Reds go for the road sweep of Pittsburgh. Those betting baseball are not convinced Cincy will take the series finale and elevated them from +140 to +160. Ivan Nova will go for the Pirates and rookie Amir Garrett makes his second start after impressive debut for the Reds. Though Pittsburgh should win, a lot value on smokin’ Cincy crew who are really swinging the lumber and Pitt is 3-10 (-11.4 Units) off a loss to a division rival as a home favorite.
Betting Trend – 79% backing Pittsburgh
Doug’s VPID Take – Lean Cincinnati
MLB – (921) BALTIMORE at (922) BOSTON 7:10 ET MASN2, NESN
Baltimore might be in first place in the AL East, but their lead is shrinking after two straight defeats. Tonight wraps up quick two-game series at Fenway Park and the Orioles are drawing enough wagering support to slip from +140 to +120. Though Steven Wright is hardly a great solution for Boston, Ubaldo Jimenez was torched in first start of the season and is 2-6 with a 6.82 ERA lifetime against the Red Sox and 1-3 with a 6.09 ERA at Fenway. Toss in Jimenez and the Birds are 1-12 in road games after two or more consecutive losses, I like the BoSox here.
Betting Trend – 84% backing Boston
Doug’s VPID Take – Boston wins
NHL – (1) N.Y. RANGERS at (2) MONTREAL 7:05 ET NBCSN
Great goalie matchup in this series and those betting the Stanley Cup playoffs are siding with Montreal in the opener, lifting them from -135 to -150 or higher. I think there is a very good chance New York will take one of two at Montreal to start the series, seeing they are 27-14 SU on the road this season. With increased value as underdogs and 9-2 revenging a home loss of two goals or more, the Rangers are certainly inviting.
Betting Trend – 65% backing Montreal
Doug’s VPID Take – New York wins
NHL – (5) ST. LOUIS at (6) MINNESOTA 9:35 ET NBCSN
Evidently the wagering public is wild about the Wild and elevated Minnesota from -150 to -170. Both division rivals come in playing well and if you review all the facets of both teams, Minnesota is the better team, but I think St. Louis is playing with more confidence and I actually bet them to win the series and am all but certain they win one of two in the Twin Cities and will bet the value of larger underdog.
Betting Trend – 81% backing Minnesota
Doug’s VPID Take - Lean St. Louis
